David Karp is a freelance writer and photographer specializing in fruit, whose work has appeared over the past 18 years in the Los Angeles
Times, The New York Times, Gourmet, Smithsonian, Saveur, and many other publications. He is also an Associate in the Agricultural Experiment
Station at the University of California at Riverside, collaborating with the staff of the Citrus Variety Collection, and in recent years has
focused much of his attention on scientific research. He regularly attends the Santa Monica, California farmers market where he is a frequent
guest on the Saturday morning Good Food show on radio station KCRW. He currently writes a weekly online column, Market Watch, about
farmers markets in the Food section of the Los Angeles Times, as well as a series of in-depth features on fruit. He has rewritten and expanded
many of his articles for the Fruit Gardener.
